Game Report: Flames 7, Blues 4

The Blues gave up five goals in the third period and opened their three-game trip to western Canada by losing to the Flames Monday night in Calgary.

The game was tied 2-2 going into the final period before the outburst by the Flames, who scored three times in the final 5:31 of the game.

Vladimir Tarasenko’s second goal of the game at 12:43 of the period tied the game at 4-4, just 12 seconds after a goal by the Flames. It was the third time in the game the Blues were able to tie the game but they had no answer for the Flames’ final flurry.

Goals by Kris Versteeg and Johnny Gaudreau put the Flames in front 6-4 before they capped off the night with an empty-net goal.

Jake Allen gave up six goals on 36 shots.

The Blues have now allowed a combined 12 goals in their last two games, having given up five in losing to the New York islanders on Saturday night at Scottrade Center.

Jaden Schwartz, on a power-play, and Alexander Steen scored the other goals for the Blues. Tarasenko and Schwartz are now tied for the team lead with 10 goals.

The road trip will continue with games Thursday night at Edmonton and Saturday night at Vancouver.
